Emily A. Whicker, MD Orthopedic Surgeon & Sports Medicine Specialist
Emily A. Whicker, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. She has dedicated her career to treating athletes of all ages and levels, focusing on disorders of the shoulder, knee, and hip. With a particular interest in injuries affecting female athletes, Dr. Whicker combines advanced surgical techniques with personalized care to help her patients return to peak performance.
Throughout her residency and fellowship, Dr. Whicker gained extensive experience providing team coverage for elite athletic organizations, including the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team, the Professional Lacrosse League, and provided care for the athletes of the NHL, NFL, and MLB, and the University of Pittsburgh Football Team. She has also worked closely with numerous high school football and hockey teams, ensuring athletes receive expert orthopedic care. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Whicker has contributed significantly to orthopedic research, publishing extensive outcome studies and presenting her findings at national and international conferences.
Dr. Whicker completed her undergraduate studies at Williams College before earning her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine. She pursued her orthopedic training with a residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She then underwent a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the renowned Steadman-Philippon Research Institute in Vail, CO. Dr. Whicker is an active member of professional organizations, including the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society, and the American Medical Association.
